Trim Tabs & Ride Control

Trim Tabs & Ride Control - Click any image below for more information.

Trim buttons control hydraulic units that change the angle of propeller thrust on outboard motors and inboard / outdrive installations. Outboards can be tilted so that their lower leg is raised or completely out of the water. Trim tabs or interceptors are metal or composite plates that are fitted as 2 separate components to the transom of a craft. Electric motors or hydraulics are used to raise and lower the trim units. Trim tabs or interceptors improve sea keeping and performance by deflecting the water flow at the rear edge of the hull which can adjust the pitch angle of the vessel while underway.
